Tradesmen in the UK must have regular training by qualified tutors to carry out certain types work, such as installing boilers.
This is particularly important where there is a safety issue. Both tutors and tradesmen must have current qualifications and certificates to prove that they are qualified to carry out any work. UK Certification track the expiry dates of qualifications for both tradesmen and tutors, and issue certificates and ID cards to prove they are qualified.
When they started, UK Certification needed a database at their head office that could track the expiry dates, assign courses to the tradesmen and print ID cards and certificates. Their requirements were very specific and could not be met by a standard package.
Benchmark were able to develop the database they needed by adapting our CRM software. This both reduced development time and the cost of the system, although extensive changes were needed.
Finally, the CRM software was linked to our accounting software so every time certificates were produced, a corresponding invoice was automatically produced.
Vanessa Watts, office manager at UK Certification, estimates the system saves them one, possibly two, full-time salaries at their head office as a result of the efficiencies the system provides.
The integrated CRM and accounts system has been a great success and UK Certification has now grown to the extent they need a networked version of the software and additional modifications.
